AquaPhyto BV and the University of Amsterdam collaborate to develop algal mass cultures

AquaPhyto
AquaPhyto BV is an innovative company specialized in large scale production of micro-algal biomass. The research group Aquatic Ecology and Ecotoxicology of the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED)develops a research program with AquaPhyto BV to facilitate applications of algal mass cultures such as the polishing of wastewater and the production of bio-fuels and biomass for aquaculture.
Her Majesty Queen Beatrix visits the algal production facility
The new cooperation is sparked by a visit by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix to the algal production facility of AquaPhyto on April 15, 2008. Following this visit Her Majesty and Mrs. Jacqueline Cramer (Minister of Spatial Planning and Environment), had an depth discussion with Mr. Robert Baard (director of AquaPhyto), professor Wim Admiraal (UvA) and four stakeholders in biofuel.
