  • Lexical represenation of Multiword Expressions
    Nicole Grégoire (Uil-OTS, Utrecht University)
In this talk I will present a systematic way to represent multiword expressions (MWEs) in NLP systems. The method proposed is based on the so-called Equivalence Class Method originally developed by Odijk (2003). Instead of describing the structure of an MWE, the proposed standard requires that it is specified which MWEs have the same structure. In this talk I will show how this method can be refined using parameterized equivalence classes. Furthermore I will discuss the necessity of underspecified syntactic structures and how they are realized in the lexical entry of an MWE using formalisations, keeping a high degree of theory- and implementation neutrality.
