  • Analysis of web-paged communication
    Anni Oja (Tartu University)
This study describes, how to explore language in web-based asynchronous communication, considering interaction in youth-oriented webportal, in the context of Estonian language. In general this work examines adjective variables and the realization of emotions across picture comments collected to corpus to determine if different gender and age groups display similar or different patterns of use of the variables. Corpus consists of picture comments and information that users share about themselves (gender, age, profession, education, hobbies etc). Users can be subdivided by different parameters and test the range of variety in subgroups. The results reveal that age affects communication more than gender or other group-selection options.
