- Tour 1: City Tour "Impression of Vienna"

This tour will give you an impression of the city and thus leads some outstanding points of interest. There are many remarkable buildings located on both sides of the Ringstrasse - a circular boulevard 4 kilometers in length and built during the middle of the last century - e.g. the Opera, the Museums, the Parliament, the Burgtheater, the City Hall and the University.

- Tour 2: Guided Tour through Belvedere Palace

Departure from the congress center, duration approx. 3 hours
Belvedere Palace is one of the most beautiful baroque constructions of the world and had been built
to the plans of J. Lukas Hildebrandt for Prince Eugene of Savoy to use as a summer residence.
The whole complex consists of Upper and Lower Belvedere and a magnificent garden.
The Lower Belvedere, the former privat rooms of the Prince, is now the Austrian Baroque Museum, while
the Orangerie provides the place for the Museum of Medieval Arts. In the Upper Belvedere you will see
the red marble hall, where the Austrian State Treaty was signed on 15 May 1955. The other rooms,
formerly used as reception rooms, now house the Austrian Picture Gallery on the 19th and 20th
Centuries.

- Tour 3: City Tour "Historic Vienna"
including a visit to Schönbrunn Palace

This tour will give you an impression of the city and thus leads to some outstanding points of

The highlight of this tour will be a visit to Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of
the Austrian Emperors.

- Tour 4: Visit to the Imperial show rooms at the Wiener Hofburg and to the training of the
Spanish Riding School
Wednesday, 30 April, 1997: 09.00 h
Meeting place: Vienna State Opera/main entrance, duration approx. 2 hours
Guided tour through the Imperial Showrooms, the former imperial and private apartments of Emperor
Francis Joseph I and his wife with the original furniture. Afterwards visit to the training of the
Spanish Riding School.

- Tour 5: Excursion "Vienna Woods - Heiligenkreuz"
Wednesday, April 30, 1997: 14.00 h
Departure from the congress center, duration approx. 4 hours
This excursion will enable you to discover the part of the Vienna Woods located south of the city. Passing through Mödling known for its numerous curiosities of the 15th and 16th centuries, and for having been the residence of Beethoven, Schubert, Grillparzer etc. one arrives at the foot of the fortified Liechtenstein Castle, the only large secular monument of the romanesque period in Lower Austria. The main attraction of this excursion is the Cistercian Abbey at Heiligenkreuz founded in the 12th century. During a guided visit you will see numerous objects of great historical value. The excursion continues passing by the Carmelite convent, the ancient hunting lodge of Crown Prince Rudolph of Habsburg at Mayerling, then through Helenental towards Baden. The return to Vienna goes through Gumpoldskirchen, a renowned wine-producing area.

- Tour 6: Budapest - Metropolis on the Danube
Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2, 1997: 08.00 h
Departure from the congress center- tour ends approx. at 20.00 h on the 2nd day
Budapest - capital of Hungray, a European metropolis of historical and cultural importance on the
banks of the river Danube. Its numerous bridges link the older quarter "Buda" to the modern "Pest",
generous hospitality - highlights such as gulyas, csardas and gipsy music.
City tours, visits as well as delightfull meals will bring to you unforgetable impressions of the
city's enchanting atmosphere
