About Computational Geo-Ecology

We study behavioural responses of organisms to their environment and the cumulation of these responses into different survival strategies. Our research ranges from the individual to the population level and concentrates on birds and terrestrial plants.
By combining data-driven (experimental and observational) work with concept-driven (theoretical) modelling, we capitalize on the strengths of both approaches. To support of our studies, we actively develop methodologies to improve observations, data analysis and model interpretation.
Both our observational work as well as our models generate extremely large data sets. We develop Virtual Laboratories, with tools for data visualization, explorative and inferential analysis, to handle these in a transparant and reproducible way and share our knowledge efficiently with the scienctific community.
