Soil and environmental chemistry laboratories
These laboratories contain the facilities for treatment and measurement of gaseous, liquid and solid samples from field activities and laboratory experiments that focus on processes in soils, sediments and water. The laboratories include state-of-the-art facilities to study the partitioning, transport and transformation of substances in the environment as well as facilities to develop new methodologies for research.

Greenhouses and growth facilities
The new greenhouse was opened in 2006 and is used by IBED and SILS. The greenhouse offers excellent conditions for research, and contains many independent units, partly fully climatized, and with the legal permits to do research on genetically modified organisms. In addition, IBED has excellent growth facilities (climate chambers and cabinets, plant growth chambers) at its disposal as part of the new laboratory infrastructure in the new building as the Science Park that was opened in 2009.

Facilities for Aquatic research
In addition to the facilities in the soil and environmental laboratories, dedicated facilities for aquatic research include microcosmos labs, a dedicated genetic lab and AQUATRON and BENTHATRON facilities for phytoplankton cultures and sediment incubation.

Computational facilities
Ecology, biogeography and physical geography change from a predominantly descriptive science into an ever more
predictive science, where quantitative data analysis and modelling play a most important role. High-performance computing facilities and a dedicated server for spatial databases are available at SARA.
