How to post a netnews article

Before attempting a real posting, first try out the system by posting an article to the wins.test newsgroup.

UNIX

Learn about the newsreader nn (see "man nn"). When you've started the nn program type the following to post an article:

:post

Now enter the newsgroup you want to post the article to (e.g., wins.test), and fill in the subject, keywords and a short summary. Once that's done a text editor will be started where you can enter the actual article.

After leaving the editor you'll see the following prompt:

a)bort e)dit h)old i)spell m)ail p)ost r)eedit v)iew w)rite
Action: (post article) 

That's all there is to it.

Using Netscape, Mozilla or Internet Explorer

Select the News window and enter the name for the newsgroup in the To: field, enter the message and click on the Send button.

Via E-mail

For very easy posting to the news system you can also send an email message to one of the following (FNWI internal) email-news gateway adresses:
