The mission of the Institute is to perform curiosity driven and use-inspired fundamental research in Computer Science. Research within the institute concerns complex information systems at large, with a focus on data-driven computational and intelligent systems and with an emphasis on collaboration and interaction. We select specific topics and pursue them from methods in theoretical, experimental and applied science. The Institute maintains strategic multi-disciplinary research links both inside and outside the University of Amsterdam to achieve its goals.
