Today the Faculty of Science is a leading centre of academic research and education with approximately 2.000 students, 1.600 staff members, ten research institutes and three educational institutes.
Its curriculum includes courses in the field of biology, chemistry, physical geography, physics, astronomy, mathematics and computer science.

Most master’s programmes are research master’s, conducted in English and take two years. After completing a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Science, graduates will be eligible not only for PhD positions at the UvA but also at other universities, academic institutes and international research organizations.
