    The Van Dantzig seminar is a new nationwide series of lectures in statistics, which will feature renowned international and local speakers, from the full width of the statistical sciences. The name honours David van Dantzig (1900-1959), who was the first modern statistician in the Netherlands, and professor in the "Theory of Collective Phenomena" (i.e. statistics) in Amsterdam. The seminar will convene 4 to 6 times a year at varying locations, and is supported financially by among others the STAR cluster and the Section Mathematical Statistics of the VVS-OR.

  • 10-14 June 2013, Ninth Conference on Bayesian Nonparametrics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

    The Bayesian nonparametrics conference is a bi-annual international meeting bringing together leading experts and talented young researchers working on applications and theory of nonparametric Bayesian statistics. It is an official section meeting of the Bayesian nonparametrics section of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA) and is co-sponsored by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).

    A conference on Algebraic Geometry will be held at the Oudemanhuispoort (UvA) in Amsterdam during 8-12 July 2013. The organisers are Bas Edixhoven (Leiden), Ben Moonen (KdVI, UvA) and Burt Totaro (Cambridge and UCLA). There is no registration fee, but participants should register in advance.
