Theoretical model for non-intrusive network monitoring

INRIA is researching a theoretical model for non-intrusive network probing. This is ongoing work. Results will published as they come available.

Deliverable 3.4, a report on the user application performance and optimisation and relation to raw network performance, has not been released yet.

TCP and UDP characteristics of trans-Atlantic lambda's

The UvA and NIKHEF have used a selection of tools to monitor networks, and measure their characteristics. This is a joint work of task 3.1 and 3.2.

• Netherlight Lambda Test Results.
  In this site the monitor and test results are presented that were obtained at the Netherlight Lambda from SURFnet. Because both networks have about the same characteristics (long fat networks with limited routing and therefore relatively few memory buffer capacity, these results may serve very well as a testbed for the DataTAG connection from which some test results are also presented in the next item.
• DataTAG CERN - StarLight Link Test Results.
  In this site the test results are presented that were obtained at the DataTAG test link between CERN, Geneva and StarLight, Chicago.

Monitoring tools

• Network Test and Monitoring Tools.
  An overview of test and monitor tools for DataTAG.
• rTPL Net Performance Package.
  TPL (Remote Throughput, Ping and Load) is a tool to periodically test network performance. It was originally developed for a TERENA project, and has been extended for DataTAG.
