Student Projects
The Advanced Internet Research group currently does research on Next
Generation Networks and Grid related topics.
Within our group there are several opportunities for students to
participate in our research projects for their master thesis,
internship and PHD positions. See below the current topics,
don't hesitate to contact us if you couldn't find a topic in the
list below, we can always create new topics
Topics for short projects
For short projects, in particular for project for students of the SNB
(Systeem en Netwerkbeheer) master,
see http://staff.science.uva.nl/~delaat/snb-2004-2005/.
Note that the linked page also include projects in other groups.
Topics for longer projects

Generic Authorization, Authentication & Accounting
In this IRTF/IETF related work we develop a model for a multi
domain generic authorisation decision taking architecture,
develop a policy language and try to simulate such a environment
to study scaling it to the size of the Internet.

Intelligent networking devices
We study the usage of intelligent OSI Layer 3/4 capable
Directory Enabled Networking edge devices to put as much
complexity as possible in the edge of the network and let, for
example, certain AAA decisions take place there. In the long
run this should allow a user in a controlled way to get connected
to a high speed optical path or remarked his/her traffic as
higher priority or regulate access to distance learning
environments (not really on the web yet).
