Forwarding Adjacency
A Forwarding Adjacency (FA) is a TE-LSP that is configured (automatically or manually) between two nodes, which then allows higher layers LSPs over it. A TE-LSP is an FA that intrinsically has control plane connectivity, meaning that the FA is announced into the same controlplane as its parts.
An FA has the special characteristic of not requiring a routing adjacency between the FA-LSP end points based on signaling adjacency.
It helps scaling the GMPLS TE networks because multiple higher layer LSPs can be aggregated over a single FA-LSP.
If the link is pre-configured but not setup yet, then it is a
Virtual TE-Link.
