Lectures from the academic year 2006/2007:

the 3rd year workshop in experimental physics will be given this year by Peter Schall and Daniel Bonn of the WZI's complex fluids/soft matter group, rather than by me (i.e. the study guide is not up to date on this point). Their workshop sounds like a fascinating one, so contact Peter or Daniel for details.

Lectures from the academic year 2005/2006:

3rd year workshop in experimental physics: Quantum Salad Dressing.
This workshop (3EC) takes place for the first time in the academic year 2005/2006. The finalised schedule, as well as a sketch of the content of the workshop and its aims can be found here (as well on Blackboard). As far as content, hand-outs etc. are concerned, the Blackboard site is the definitive location, not this webpage.
Let op: meelifters zijn vriendelijk verzocht hun tijd anders te besteden.

1st year option course: "Gecondenseerde Materie I", given jointly with Dr. Ekkes Brück and Prof. T. Gregorkiewicz (both WZI), as part of the UvA Physics B.Sc. Based on the book 'The physics of solids', by Richard Turton (ISBN 0-19-850352-0).
This course is running from the 13th March till the 23rd June 2005 and included hands-on, 'GM-labs', in the research laboratories of the Van der Waals-Zeeman Institute for Experimental Physics. The course overheads etc. can be found on the UvA's digital learning environment, Blackboard. For those without access to UvA's blackboard: contact one of the lecturers.

Master course: "Electronic Structure and Chemistry of Solids", given jointly with Dr. B. Dam (VU) as part of the UvA/VU Masters programme Condensed Matter Science.
Course book: P. A. Cox, The Electronic Structure and Chemistry of Solids, Oxford Science Publications (OUP), ISBN 0-19-855204-1 (paperback).
