Wavelet analysis
Wavelet-analysis is a useful approach in various research areas of autonomous systems , in particular image segmentation, the interpretation of image sequences, optic flow processes, monitoring of neural net activity and other; either in a data-modeling or in a 'denoising' context.

Research issues:

  • wavelet-based decomposition techniques in particular to distinguish between noise and determinism: the analysis of renormalisation properties of singularities on one- and two-dimensional support has been extended and modified.
  • the identification of dynamical systems underlying the data.

This project has resulted in Zbygniew Struzik's PhD thesis
From Coastline Length to Inverse Fractal Problem: The Concept of Fractal Metrology
(cover illustration above) and numerous papers, see our list of publications.
