The near field scattering technique

It will be shown that while scattered light far field speckles do not contain any information on the statistical properties of the scattering medium, near field statistical properties are intimately related to the statistical properties of the sample, the size of the speckles being of the order of the scatterers size. A new experimental method alternative to traditional static light scattering technique will be presented. Advantages will be discussed and typical colloidal physics applications will be presented.
