Efimov physics with Ultracold Fermions

In the early 1970s Vitaly Efimov postulated the existence of an infinite series of universal three-body bound states when the scattering length between identical bosons diverges. Such Efimov bound states were proven to exist for the first time in ground breaking experiments at Innsbruck University. In our work we extend the concept of Efimov physics to systems containing three distinguishable fermions. Our long-term vision for this project is to study many-body physics in a gas containing three distinguishable fermions, for which a rich phase diagram is expected.
