General information on SILS research

Research at SILS

At the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, research is focused on a number of central themes. Among these themes are gene expression, the structure of DNA molecules and chromatin, protein-protein interactions, protein structure-function relations and signal transduction processes, as they take place in man, animal, plant and micro-organism. Within the institute, this leads to exchange of information and extension of research over the borders of different disciplines.

Research programmes and Research groups

Research at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences is grouped into four research programmes:

Programme I - Systems Biology of the Living Cell
Programme II - Plant Signalling
Programme III - Neurosciences
Programme IV - Life Science Technologies

Within these programmes, research is carried out by the 13 individual research groups and 2 expertise centres that together compose the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences (SILS)
