Working at the Faculty of Science
Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science at the UvA is a strong player in the European higher education and research community, and plays a global role in its chosen fields of specialization. The Faculty hosts some 2,500 students, taught and supervised by 500 tenured academic staff spread over ten research institutes. The latter draw a substantial part of their research funding from agencies such as the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the Dutch government, EU and numerous private enterprises.
In March 2009, a large part of the Faculty moved to a new building in the Science Park Amsterdam: by the end of 2010 the entire Faculty of Science will be housed on a single site. This move is instrumental in transforming the Science Park Amsterdam into one of the largest centres of academic research in the Netherlands.
