The best way to the university is by public transport via the metro-station called Weesperplein. If you are coming from Schiphol Airport, just take the train to Amsterdam CS (Central Station) and then take the metro to Weesperplein. At Amsterdam CS, all metros will stop at the Weesperplein. If you are coming form the south of the Netherlands, you can get off the train at Amsterdam Amstel Station and take the metro to Central station (on the other side of the platform).

At the Weesperplein, there are several exits. You will have to take the one called Valkeniersstraat, which you have to enter. You will pass a garage of ambulances on your left. At the end of the street turn left and before the channel turn right. At your right, you will pass some stairs which you will have to climb. The office of Berend Smit is in the C-building (6th floor, room C6.36) which is build over the channel (see the maps).

Car parking in Amsterdam is a huge problem so we strongly recommend to come by public transport. If you decide to come by car you can take the following routes :

• If you are coming from the direction of Den Haag/Schiphol, Utrecht or Amersfoort get on the southern part of the circular freeway A10. Take the exit S112 (Duivendrecht) and go in the direction of the center. You are now on the Gooiseweg. Continue on the Gooiseweg until you reach the rotunda near the Amstel Station. Take the first road to the right, called the Wibautstraat. Continue until you reach the Weesperplein (just after the crossing with the Mauritskade and the Stadhouderskade). After the Weesperplein, just before the channel turn right. You are now on the Nieuwe Achtergracht. Continue until you see the university.
• If you are coming from the Zaanstreek get on the Eastern part of the circular freeway. Take the IJ-tunnel to get from Amsterdam Noord to the center. Once you leave the IJ-tunnel take the first road to the left (just past the fire brigade). You are now on the Anne Frankstraat. Cross the bridge and follow the road when it turns to the right. You are now on the Plantage Parklaan. When you reach the traffic lights, go to the left to get on the Plantage Middenlaan. Take the first road to the right (at the other side of the crossing you see the Amsterdam Zoo (Artis)). You are now on the Roeterstraat. Past the bridge follow the road when it turns to the left. You can now see the university.
